BA barrels are BA!

We have been big fans of Ballistic Advantage for years now. We love to see them grown and become more and more popular. When the pandemic hit, BA told us that they were going to discontinue a bunch of their barrels because they just didn’t have the material or means to keep up with the huge number of orders they were taking in.

The good news is that they now offer some of the best configurations out here and none of the mediocre stuff that a lot of people overlook away. When building a MK18 clone, most people will cheat and use a 10.5 barrels because it’s close enough and readily available. BA decided to just ditch the 10.5 because the 10.3 is more accurate to that build and to the people building smaller guns and have no clue what the MK18is, it makes no difference to them. We have seen some of the better configurations come out of BA lately. I am a huge fan of the Hanson Profile, just like everyone else is.

They have a new premium line of barrels that now come with the gas block included and offer a “Sub- MOA” accuracy guarantee. Which is insane for the price. Most barrel manufactures don’t offer stuff like that because it’s hard to prove. There are many things outside of the barrel that makes it shoot more than “Sub-MOA” mainly being the shooter and the ammo used. They however know they can stand by their products no matter what. Which is a great deal in the industry.

We have all their current offering on the website right now. We have hundreds of .223/5.56 barrels, the premium lines, 9mm barrels, and .300Blackout. Pretty much every popular size as well. Make sure to stop by and check it out while we have them. Once more people realize we have what we have, they won’t last long!

Grey Ghost Gear is Great!

Grey Ghost Precision is a company that we are well aware of. They were one of the first companies to start making replacement Sig P320 slides and they have always had some really cool Glock slides cut in the same fashion. They make a bunch of other cool things like P80 frames and all kinds of smaller parts for the Glock platform.

Grey Ghost partnered with a company a little while ago named Tactical Tailor, which has been a popular name in the Nylon gear world. They are now producing some nylon products under Grey Ghost Gear and they appear to be high-quality items.

We just picked up some of their battle belts. They come in a 2 piece set up the same way a lot of the bigger name brands do their belts. You wear the regular belt strapped into your pants and it has velcro on the outside. You take the outer belt and you kit it up with your holster, medical, dump pouch, magazine holsters, whatever you think you need on your battle belt. Then, when you wanna go shoot, you don’t have to thread everything through loops or spend time getting geared up, you just wrap the outer belt around the inner and there’s a Cobra-style belt buckle to tighten it down and help hold everything in place.

This is a common way to set up your gear and a battle belt can be found on many people that just want to get good with their gear. You don’t have to be active military or be a veteran to wear kit and train with it. It is your responsibility as a gun owner and a U.S. Citizen to be proficient with your own safety. Lots of battle belts and gear can run into several hundred dollars. The great thing about this GGG belt is that it’s ready to go for whatever gear you have and it’s coming in under $150.

Ed Hardy’s Wife’s Glock

A few weeks ago I introduced you guys to this “One of a kind” Glock release. This gun was something that I had considered to be either the ugliest gun I had ever held, or the prettiest. I still stand by that idea. However, I have a few more contenders to toss into the ring now and I hate that I even have to do this.

Here is the Glock 48 in a “Glocks N Roses” edition. We have a metallic pink cerakoted Glock48 that has once again been laser etched on the slide and frame. This one includes a nice rose pattern and mimics the blue version I posted above. While I do not think that this looks any better, I do prefer the black color over something like a silver etching instead…..

….. Like this. This might actually dethrone the Blue Tiffany blue Glock as the ugliest one I’ve ever seen. The etching on the slide is not terrible, but the frame has no color. This was cerakoted after the fact on the frame. So it was laser-etched first and then painted. That is why the design of the frame is the same color. I think if they did it in black like the 48 above, or even in the same silver color as the slide. However, they did not.

I know that I said these are my least favorite versions of the Glocks. Just because I personally think they don’t look good. HOWEVER, they sell so fast when we get them. They aren’t in the building for more than a day or two. While I do not like them, it seems like other people definitely do. What are your thoughts? Do you agree or disagree with me? Reach out and let me know. I’d like to know if you think people are buying these for real, or are using them as meme guns.

PPU 54R is all the Fancy!

Prvi Partizan is a company you’ll hear me talk about all the time on this blog. It’s my personal go-to ammo manufacturer and we have been doing business with them for years and years. One of the first calibers they started manufacturing was the ever so popular 7.62x54R round.

The 7.62x54R cartridge is still in use in several places around the world. For instance, the Russian military still uses it in things like their Dragunov sniper rifle and PKM machine gun. For as long as the caliber has been around, there have been plenty of surplus guns chambered in it and many still being shot on a daily in the USA.

One of the most popular being the Mosin Nagant. There are several million of these rifles across the world and in various hands of civilians and military personnel alike. Cheap 54R ammo makes plinking with a large caliber gun very fun. Nothing like 300 rounds in a range session with a Mosin to give you shoulder muscles that look like they have been chiseled by the Gods themselves.

With the ammo being cheap and plinking fun, PPU stepped in because there are a number of places and people that were asking for high quality precision ammo for the same reason. It was relatively cheap to buy and the guns themselves were everywhere. Now a days even with the Pandemic, 54R is still readily available and probably being shot by a lot more people than 9mm and .223/5.56 is. For years people were able to stock up on some of the cheapest ammo in 54R and now that they wanna shoot, but not waste their good ammo, they can go blow a few hundred rounds of the 54R and have fun without breaking the bank.

People overlook the 54R sometimes and I love to dive into why they shouldn’t. Its a long service military round, its relatively cheap and available, and the guns that shoot it can be found anywhere. Not to mention it still has the ammo support of places like PPU behind it. Making brand new brass ammo almost all year round. If you have a 54R gun and have only been shooting steel out of it, check out some of this PPU on the website and grab a few boxes to test how well you can group that Mosin with iron sights at 100yards. Will make your next range trip well worth it!

Rifles ARe Back!

This week we are having a HUGE sale on some of the most popular AR15s on the market. Since the beginning of the pandemic, AR15s have dried up almost entirely. You couldn’t even find the crazy expensive “Gucci” ones or the “so cheap you might get hurt shooting it” ones either!

So what happens is manufacturers are producing the guns as fast as humanly possible. Then dealers and distributors are literally buying them in bigger quantities hoping to get something besides scraps to make a living off of. For example, if you are a name-brand company and make an AR15, then we probably had thousands of rifles on order from 30 different companies at a time. The biggest downside is the whole increase in prices across the board.

The cost of production went up exponentially around the world. Supply chains were disrupted and products cost more to make. So everything that was starting to show up, was now at a premium. I would say that most guns got a little too expensive for the average Joe that already had a few guns, but the new guys who had nothing were still wiping everything out. NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.

We are having possibly the biggest sale on AR15s that we ever have. Anywhere from $300 to $600 off! That’s insane. We have over 20 different rifle styles, in several different calibers, from several different brands. We have Geissele rifles and pistols, Zev Technologies, and even Smith & Wesson. All the popular name brands and at a price that’s hard to beat. There has not been a better time this year, to purchase an AR15. I’ll post some of the sales below for you to check out yourself. Obviously head over to the website to check INV and the price after this post is made. Until next time, stay safe and healthy!

Set your Sites on this Spectre

There’s a good chance that you don’t know what the gun pictured above is. If you do know what it is, there’s a good chance you have played the old 007 GoldenEye video game, Rainbow Six 3, or even Call of Duty Black Ops. This is one of the few firearms that up until it rolled into the shop, I had only ever seen in video games. Our friends over at T.Rex Arms actually have one of the only YouTube videos out there going into great detail about what this gun is.

It’s called a Sites Spectre. It is an awesome little “sub-gun” and I’m going to call it that because that’s really what it was designed to be. The ones found not in the country are all mostly full auto guns. The ones stateside that were imported are typically not. Obviously, unless they are dealer samples or converted by an 07/03. There were not very many imported into the USA and the stocks for these things are actually even more valuable since there were even fewer stocks brought in.

This is extremely difficult to find and a rare firearm. I’m going to link the T.Rex arms video here because they go into a lot more detail about the history of the firearm and actually run it a bunch and it’s very entertaining to watch!

The mags are called “coffin” mags because they are well, shaped like a coffin. They are a quad stack and hold 40rds and the bigger version holds 50rds. That’s an insane amount of rounds to have in an SMG and it makes me happy just thinking about a mag dump through it.

If you’re a local customer stop into our showroom and take a look at this cool gun. There aren’t very many places where you can handle one before buying it. There are equally as few places that even have them for sale. We are offering this to our local customers first before it hits the internet. Once it does, it will be gone. So if you are a local, make sure to stop in or you’ll miss your chance to get a cool piece of history while it’s available.

Mr. Smith, Welcome Back…

A week ago we got in the police M&P9s and they were a huge hit! We sold hundreds of them and we sold over 500 used magazines to match. They were some of the best condition police trade-ins we have had the whole year. What’s cool is we just added more to the website!

People shouldn’t underestimate these guns. The M&P9s were some of the most popular handguns in the United States for quite a while. They were the go-to handgun for a lot of law enforcement and military personnel. The ability to change the back strap to fit your specific hand size better is a lot more important than you think. It helps dictate your grip and can easily be the difference between hitting what you’re aiming at and missing high right. Any time you’re discharging your weapon in a legitimate situation, the last thing you wanna worry about is missing.

The M&P platform is a great place to start for any new shooter, hardcore class junkie, or a seasoned veteran. They can take one of the best triggers out there. The APEX kit is by far the best trigger upgrade in any handgun, anywhere. Just my personal opinion, but I think there are plenty of people that would agree with me.

With most new guns being at almost MSRP or even some places above retail, it’s nice to be able to get a good used gun and save some dough. Use some of that money to buy that apex trigger or some ammo, or even more magazines. You literally cannot go wrong picking up one of these guns. They are a fantastic value for the money. Check them out again and if you managed to let them slip once, don’t let it happen again. We do not know when we will see more of these guns in this good of condition!

Hi-Power Goodness

Late last year we got in a few hundred police trade-in Hi-Powers. When we normally get a batch of trade-ins we have a general idea of the condition ahead of time and we know what we are expecting. We were told this batch was pretty rough and we were expecting they were gonna need some work before they were sold.

However, this batch that showed up looked far worse than anybody was expecting. They looked like somebody had tied them to the back of a truck and dragged them down a dirt road. They turned out to be Maylasian guns and they had this giant orange line painted on the majority of the gun. It was apparent how they designated the guns as their “training” guns and shouldn’t be loaded with live ammo. We often see departments doing that with their non-lethal firearms and force-on-force guns. Typically the whole gun is made in that color, to begin with, not just painted.

The problem with these guns is that they just genuinely couldn’t be sold as functioning firearms. They needed a lot of work. So what we did is we took about 20 of them and sent them out to be completely refinished. We had all the internal springs and detents replaced. All contact surfaces polished. New grips put on and cut for new sights. All were then refinished and look 1000% times better than they did when they arrived.

We aren’t sure if we are going to do the same thing with the rest of the guns just because it ties up a lot of money and time to have them all redone. With that being said, we have 10 of these refinished ones left. They are available down in the showroom for our local guys and we are going to end up listing them on AR15.com for some of these guys. We have a big following over there and we like to offer some things to people over there to show our appreciation. If you’re not local, then you should watch over there for them or if you are local, you should definitely stop in and take a gander at these Hi-powers. They look pretty good and you won’t find ones nearly as nice for the price.

Ammo is back on the Menu!

PPU our dear friend, we have missed you SO! I will be honest with you guys. Prvi Partizan ammo is hands down my favorite ammo to shoot. Across all calibers even. They always have some of the cleanest stuff loaded to the specs that more people care about and it’s always at a better price than most.

When the pandemic hit PPU was still giving us some of the best pricing, the biggest quantities, and overall just being willing to work with us to get ammo into the hands of the people. Yes, prices increased across the board because production to the whole supply line across the world went to crap. Supply and demand then came into play and it made getting PPU ammo somewhat difficult. Just 2 years ago we could make a call and get 30 skids of PPU 9 in our building in less than a week.

Earlier this week for the first time in years now, I watched our forklift guy unload pallet after pallet of the PPU ammo and my heart grew warm. During the pandemic, we have seen one pallet here, 3 pallets there. Nothing like it was before though. I know we aren’t quite back to normal when it comes to pricing and availability, but for the first time in a long time. We have multiple pages of ammo in stock, we have multiple calibers from multiple manufactures and we even have ammo in stock for weeks at a time now.

It will take the firearms community a little bit longer to start coming back to what we knew previously as the “norm” and settle into what the new version of that is going to be. It’s a nice sign though, to start seeing some of our favorite ammo’s coming back in large quantities. Now don’t let that fool you, the ammo could easily dry right back up if the wrong politician decides to start running at the mouth on TV. So don’t go out and panic buy our new stock, but if you’ve been waiting for something specific to come in, now would be a good time. Happy Hunting everybody!

Alloy Frame Sig for the WIN!

The modularity of the Sig P320 is something to be amazed at. They are the only gun offering this level of customization out of the box without modifications or gunsmithing required. I still think the aftermarket world hasn’t “exploded” with parts like it should have, but it’s starting to pick up and as a Sig fan I’m excited about it.

Sig just released this AXG PRO. This gun comes from the factory with an optic cut full-size PRO slide, flat-faced trigger, and the new full-size AXG alloy frame with a Maxwell and 2 17rd mags. The frame is super slim and comfortable and reminds me of a P226. Now, I was kind of hoping that this was going to be a little bit heavier. I have a legion and the gun weights over 3lb unloaded. I expected the alloy frame to have a little more weight to it to handle the higher bore axis of the gun and help mitigate some of that muzzle flip you get. The only downside I see is that there is no way to add the frame weights like there is in the other Sig frames.

If you were to blindfold me and put this gun and a P226 or a P229 or any other alloy framed gun into my hand, I would not be able to tell you immediately that it was a P320. It’s varying from the norm and I love it. I’m excited to see it getting a wider variety of frames besides the standard X frames. I would like to see other companies offering different grips and frames to match this. With varying weights for competition and carry. There are lots of possibilities with the P320 Platform.

We only got 2 of these guns and they are up on the website. Check them out and grab one and start diving into the world of P320 customization with one of the coolest out of the box Sigs out there!.
