Magpul's B.A.D. (Battery Assist Device) Lever

For AR15 owners, odds are you’ve had this experience before: you’re plinking away with your rifle when suddenly you experience a jam, so you start running through the procedure to clear a failure.  The problem is that you typically have to lower your rifle from your shoulder, breaking your shooting position, and then there’s the awkward arm crossing as you pull back on the charging handle with one hand and activate the bolt catch with the other.  If this were a tactical situation, precious seconds would be wasted.
Enter Magpul’s Battery Assist Device (BAD™) Lever.  Made of anodized aluminum and coming in every color (as long as it’s black), this oddly-shaped attachment is practically revolutionary for AR15 shooters.  The lever clamps onto a standard AR15 bolt catch with a single screw then snakes down and under the side of your receiver.  Once installed, the end of the lever is perfectly positioned to be manipulated using the index finger of your grip hand.  Now should you experience a failure, you can maintain a proper grip on your rifle with access to the fire controls while clearing the problem.  It’s incredibly easy to operate too.  Merely push up on the lever to engage the bolt catch and push down to disengage.
Usable by both right-handed shooters and southpaws alike, Magpul includes everything needed for installation (including the wrench).  The BAD™ Lever is priced at $28.45, ships for FREE (to the lower 48), and is easily one of the best (and least expensive!) upgrades you can make to your black rifle.

.308 Range Trip!

I have been wanting to get some of our various types of .308/7.62×51 calibers down to the range and get some results on paper to post here on our blog. Yesterday was the day. We enlisted the help of our friend, Detective Tim Riggs who is a SWAT team Sniper Leader and Instructor for our local Police Department, to do the shooting and help keep this official.
(Tim is also on the board at http://www.americansnipers.org. If you are not familiar with this great organization please take the time to check them out. They are actively seeking help to best equip our active US Military Snipers who are in the line of fire overseas. Do your part to keep this Country great, and our Soldiers safe.)
All the groups below were fired from a Remington 700 SWS with a Leupold 3.5×10 rifle scope that was zeroed for Prvi Partizan Match 168grn Boat Tail Hollow Point ammunition. Target distance was 100 yards in 72 degree weather with zero wind.

So what did I buy?   My POF .308 rifle LOVES the Radway, and it produces the best groups for me.  But I shoot Prvi in my Bolt guns. Please take these results with a grain of salt. Certain gun/barrel combinations are going to perform differently with the same calibers you see above. With a different gun you could get a completely different set of targets. The best way for determining the best ammo for your rifle is to try a little of everything, and see what your rifle likes.
I appreciate your interest and business,

How do I purchase a Firearm for FFL transfer at AIMSurplus?

As many of you may have noticed, our website got a major facelift in January of this year.  Nearly all aspects of the order taking process were changed and that may have caused some confusion with some of our customers.  While we continue to take input so we can improve our website to best serve our customers, we thought it would be best to present a tutorial on how to order a firearm to be shipped to a dealer for a transfer.  Please bear in mind that we can only ship to one address per order so please place firearm and ammunition orders separately.
Step 1: Select the item you would like to purchase, confirm the quantity you would like to order and click “Add to Cart”.

Step 2: When your ordering is complete, click “Checkout”.

Step 3: If you have ordered off of our website since our website was updated and you set a password, please login on the right.  If you are a new customer or are unable to log in, enter your contact information on the left and click “Continue”.

Step 4: Fill out the form with your billing information and click “Continue”.

Step 5: Click “Edit” under “Shipping Address / FFL Dealer” to enter your FFL Dealers shipping information.

Step 6: Fill out the form with the correct shipping information.  Please note that there is no line for “Company”.  We recommend entering the business name in the First Name and Last Name lines as shown in the picture.  Click “Update”. If you fail to click “Update”, your shipping information will not be saved.  Verify that the information shown is correct and click “Continue Checkout”.

Got a handy little cheap accessory in a few weeks ago…

We got a handy little cheap accessory in a few weeks ago. The EMA Tactical AK Magazine release. I know I know… tactical… AK? You rarely hear those words together. But I have to give it to EMA, they have put together, er… or molded, a neat little AK bit here.
It installs very easily over the standard magazine release. It allows for a much improved ambidextrous control during magazine engagement and disengagement. That could come in handy in a high stress environment, or even when you’re just lazying around the range.
This little booger is made in Israel, and at $13.49 delivered, every AK owner should have at least one.
