For AR15 owners, odds are you’ve had this experience before: you’re plinking away with your rifle when suddenly you experience a jam, so you start running through the procedure to clear a failure.  The problem is that you typically have to lower your rifle from your shoulder, breaking your shooting position, and then there’s the awkward arm crossing as you pull back on the charging handle with one hand and activate the bolt catch with the other.  If this were a tactical situation, precious seconds would be wasted.

.308 Range Trip!

I have been wanting to get some of our various types of .308/7.62×51 calibers down to the range and get some results on paper to post here on our blog. Yesterday was the day. We enlisted the help of our friend, Detective Tim Riggs who is a SWAT team Sniper Leader and Instructor for our local Police Department, to do the shooting and help keep this official.
(Tim is also on the board at http://www.americansnipers.org. If you are not familiar with this great organization please take the time to check them out. They are actively seeking help to best equip our active US Military Snipers who are in the line of fire overseas. Do your part to keep this Country great, and our Soldiers safe.)
All the groups below were fired from a Remington 700 SWS with a Leupold 3.5×10 rifle scope that was zeroed for Prvi Partizan Match 168grn Boat Tail Hollow Point ammunition. Target distance was 100 yards in 72 degree weather with zero wind.

This ammunition features a 147grn lead core copper jacketed bullet,  NATO headstamped brass case, and non-corrosive berdan primer. It is packaged 5rds on a steel charger (stripper clip), 75rds (15-5rd chargers)to a nylon bandolier with metal snaps, and 750rds (10 bandoliers) in a sealed battlepack inside a wood knockdown crate.

This is current production ammunition manufactured by Prvi Partizan in Serbia. It features a Match 168grn boat tail lead core copper jacketed hollow point bullet, Brass case, and non-corrosive boxer primer. Packaged 20rds to a box and 1,000rds (50 boxes) to a cardboard case.

So what did I buy?   My POF .308 rifle LOVES the Radway, and it produces the best groups for me.  But I shoot Prvi in my Bolt guns. Please take these results with a grain of salt. Certain gun/barrel combinations are going to perform differently with the same calibers you see above. With a different gun you could get a completely different set of targets. The best way for determining the best ammo for your rifle is to try a little of everything, and see what your rifle likes.

As many of you may have noticed, our website got a major facelift in January of this year.  Nearly all aspects of the order taking process were changed and that may have caused some confusion with some of our customers.  While we continue to take input so we can improve our website to best serve our customers, we thought it would be best to present a tutorial on how to order a firearm to be shipped to a dealer for a transfer.  Please bear in mind that we can only ship to one address per order so please place firearm and ammunition orders separately.
Step 1: Select the item you would like to purchase, confirm the quantity you would like to order and click “Add to Cart”.

Step 2: When your ordering is complete, click “Checkout”.

Step 3: If you have ordered off of our website since our website was updated and you set a password, please login on the right.  If you are a new customer or are unable to log in, enter your contact information on the left and click “Continue”.

Step 4: Fill out the form with your billing information and click “Continue”.

Step 5: Click “Edit” under “Shipping Address / FFL Dealer” to enter your FFL Dealers shipping information.

Step 6: Fill out the form with the correct shipping information.  Please note that there is no line for “Company”.  We recommend entering the business name in the First Name and Last Name lines as shown in the picture.  Click “Update”. If you fail to click “Update”, your shipping information will not be saved.  Verify that the information shown is correct and click “Continue Checkout”.
